The event is slated for Sunday, March 28th, 2027 (estimated date), and it’s going to be bigger than ever as this musical award show celebrates its 14th year recognizing the most-played songs and the hottest performers to hit the airwaves.
March 28th is the (expected) day, and beautiful Los Angeles is the place to be on that day, but only if you’re a music fan — and we know you are, or you wouldn’t have clicked on the link, and you wouldn’t be reading the words that we have picked out for you just now. As you probably know, this event is fan-driven. Whether you walk, drive, fly, take a train, Uber, hitch-hike, hoverboard, Waymo or however you get there, it’s going to be a night to remember. In fact, we promise you won’t be able to forget it. If you can get to L.A., VIP Concierge can get you into this music-filled award show.
2026 iHeartRadio Music Award Nominees and Winners
iHeartRadio typically announces the full list of nominees in late January, so there’s plenty of time for newcomers and established hitmakers to top the charts before voting begins. Last year’s award show featured a diverse group of contenders vying for fan-voted trophies. Taylor Swift led the pack again with nine nominations (and seven wins), hanging on to her title as the year’s most-nominated artist. Travis Swift was even there to support her! Awww.
- Alex Warren claimed five awards, including Song of the Year and Best New Pop Artist. He also earned the year’s Breakthrough Award. Sabrina Carpenter won just one award, but it was a big one … for Pop Artist of the Year.
- Miley Cyrus claimed the Innovator Award (last year’s pick was Lady Gaga), and John Mellencamp received the Icon Award, which puts him alongside greats like Mariah Carey and Cher. Host Ludacris received the Landmark Award.
- Morgan Wallen took home two iHeartRadio Music Awards for Country Artist of the Year and Country Album of the Year for I’m The Problem. This just shows that fans have standards but the award show doesn’t. Dooh!
- In Favorite Tour Tradition, Coldplay scored a big fan-voted win, maybe the infamous crowd cam kiss played a role.
- Shaboozey (luv him!) took home a trophy for Country Song of the Year for Good News.
- Ella Langley was crowned this year’s Best New Country Artist. Real Boston Richey was named Best New Hip-Hop Artist. Leon Thomas as named Best New Artist (R&B) although this multi-time award winner is anything but new.
- sombr is his year’s Best New Alt Artist, along with Sleep Theory (rock); Beéle (Latin Pop/Urban); Los Dos De Tamaulipas (Regional Mexican) and Cortis for K-pop.
- Meanwhile, former American Idol Benson Boone had a rough year. He failed to score any trophies, despite having four nominations, after a huge year in 2025 when he beat out Shaboozey, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and Post Malone to win the Song of the Year trophy for “Beautiful Things.”
- Kendrick Lamar, another top nominee, took home awards for Hip-Hop Song of the Year and Hip-Hop Album of the Year for X and luther with SZA and GNX respectively.
Whew! What a lineup! These were some seriously tough decisions, folks!
What Are the iHeartRadio Music Awards?
Since iHeartRadio founded the show in 2014, it’s become one of the industry’s premier events. The award show uses a variety of data to determine the nominees and the winners. Data sources include airplay charts, listener feedback and digital streaming reports. It also tracks record sales, video views and social media activity.
The award show recognizes winners across more than three dozen categories. Usually, about eight to 10 categories rely on fan-voting and social media hashtags to determine the final winner. Categories range from mainstays like Album of the Year and Best Music Video to off-the-wall social-voting categories, such as Best Fan Army, TikTok Bop of the Year and the Social Star Award.
