It’s too late to go to the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards Show. Maybe you go every year, or perhaps you missed the last one, and now you want to make sure you don’t miss it again next year. As the name implies, this awards show differs from other film award shows because the nominees and winners are chosen by film and television critics, and film critics are notoriously critical. They have studied films and have their own concept of what makes a film great. You don’t have to agree with them. Even Siskel and Ebert TV routinely disagreed. There’s no academy. Box office is irrelevant. What matters is only what the critics think.
The 2021 version will be the 26th annual Critics’ Choice. It’s on January 10th [subject to change], a couple of weeks before the Oscars®. Will it have a bearing on the Academy Awards®? That’s doubtful. But it will have a direct effect on the people who win an award. Naturally, the show is being held in scenic Los Angeles, where the beautiful people love to party hearty, just like we all do. It’s at the Hollywood Palladium, by the way.
