How to Attend the NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade

There are several ways to attend NYC’s iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Over 3.5 million people line the parade route to watch the incredible floats and performers live and in-person. Grandstand seats aren’t available to the public although you might spot a celebrity or two if you’re watching the spectacle on TV. Others choose to watch the parade from luxurious hotel rooms high above the street for incredible views of the floats and balloons. However, the real VIP parties are typically held at upscale hotels and restaurants strategically located along the parade route. That’s exactly where we can take you. This year, we have VIP Thanksgiving Day parade tickets to two amazing and very different venues. Ready to find out more?

Fun Facts About New York’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

New York’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been an annual tradition since 1924. That’s right, this megaparade that was originally intended to kick off the holiday shopping season has been entertaining families for nearly a century! Actually, 98 years! It doesn’t get bigger than this. Every year, approximately 8,000 performers walk in the parade, and over 40 million people watch on TV! They blast out over 200 pounds of glittery confetti along the way.

The parade features dozens of balloons and floats ranging from giant Snoopys to superheros that are 80 feet tall and take over 90 people to handle. Then, there are the cheerleaders, dancers, clowns and foot-stomping marching bands that number in the thousands! Each parade is planned a year in advance to ensure an outstanding viewing experience for those who are watching in person as well as the folks who are watching at home while the turkey is roasting.

When Is This Year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Save the date: This year’s Thanksgiving Day parade is happening on Thursday, November 28, 2024. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. and wraps up around noon. You and your friends or family can enjoy three hours of nonstop fun at the parade, and you’ll still have time for football, family dinners, turkey and whatever else will make your Thanksgiving even more special.

The 2.5-mile parade route typically starts on Central Park West and 77th Street. It winds around Columbus Square and marches down Central Park South and Sixth Avenue before concluding at Herald Square. As you can imagine, there are a variety of exciting VIP viewing opportunities along the way!
